Thursday

great to be eight

so clear back the end of april tacey turned 8 and then baptized just a few days later! tacey is amazing.  i honestly wanted her to make up her on mind on getting baptized and becoming a member of the church.  rhett and i have had quite a few deep discussions with her about it.  i'm so proud and kind of ashamed to say that my little 8 year old knows so much more about the church than i do.  it's incredible.  i'm so proud tacey made the choice to get baptized.

warning: my pictures downloaded weird and are out of order.

i took tacey dress shopping for the perfect baptism dress.  we even took a vote over the phone with my mom and sisters.  they were all so dang cute it was hard to choose just one!

toni is amazing and took tacey's pictures for us.  i'm so happy with how they turned out.

 tacey's cake

we had so many people travel to come support tacey.  i'm so grateful for all our amazing family.

tacey woke up to her first american doll on her birthday.  she has literally been asking for years.   she was so happy and excited to finally have one!

we've made it into a tradition to go visit the birthday girl at school on her birthday.  rhett was even able to make it this year.

on our way into the church for the baptism. i need to get pictures from the rest of the family from the baptism, this is all i took!

Monday

sleeping/talking riggins

i live in a house full of sleep walkers and talkers.  i've always been curious if babies talk in their sleep even though they have a limited vocab.  well the other night as i was watching my sweet baby sleep he suddenly started saying 'paw-paw.' which in riggins language translates into puppy, or actually any animal he sees.  it was seriously the cutest thing i have ever heard.  only wish i could see what he was dreaming...
sleeping children are the BEST.

Wednesday

literally, a lost tooth

tacey has been suuuper slow at losing teeth. most of the kids her age have a mouthful of adult teeth....tacey has two. so she has been so excited that her top teeth have been loose. the other night she decided that her tooth was loose enough to pull. rhett tied the floss onto her tooth and tacey tied the other end of the floss to the garage door. she slammed the door all by herself and the tooth went flying! we STILL haven't found the darn thing. tacey was so worried that the tooth fairy wouldn't come without her tooth and wouldn't you know it, the dumb tooth fairy forgot to come! ahhh. luckily, the tooth fairy came the next night and made up for by leaving two dollars! fyi: the majority of red on tacey's face is ketchup, not blood(:
tacey has got to be the cutest toothless little girl i have ever seen. i am loving her cute lisp.

first haircut

my dad and rhett have been telling me for weeks that we need to cut riggins hair. i don't know why i haven't wanted to but i kept saying no. even though i have to admit riggies hair was starting to look a little albert einstein crazy! a couple weekends ago we went and spent some time with my family. and i guess my dad decided to take matters into his own hands. luckily i heard riggins whining in the other room otherwise i think i would have missed it! i walked into my dad giving riggies his very first haircut. i am totally the sentimental type so this kind of thing is a big deal to me. i made my dad pause so i could run and grab the camera. riggins didn't love the experience. he was pretty tired and grumpy from us staying up way, way to late the night before and not enough naps. my dad felt so bad riggs was crying he didn't finish cutting it as short as i wanted him too. i'm actually glad my dad just did it, otherwise i'm not sure i would have had the courage to ever cut his hair. isn't that dumb? i don't even understand it. anyways, this last weekend rhett strapped riggins in his highchair with some fruit snacks and finished the job with the clippers. he looks much, much better! i need to find some before and after pictures. 4.12.15 first haircut

Friday

bedtime

bedtimes have been rough around here lately. my girls have shared a room most of their lives, which i know is apparently good for them. but i am not sure it is a good thing for ME! those two stinkers together are a dang handful, let me tell ya. they feed off each other.....and they are clever as heck! they keep me on my toes, that is for sure. last night we put the kids to bed at 8 and surprisingly it was a pretty easy task. that rarely happens. rhett and i hung out for probably an hour in the living room and then headed off to bed to watch some tv. still, the kids were being nice and quiet so we figured they were all asleep. i'm pretty sure rhett and i were out cold by 10:30. but holy cow, i was woken up by the loudest, blood curdling scream! it was awful. i am pretty sure i was in the deepest possible sleep. being woken up by screaming is terrifying and very confusing. i was positive somebody was dying. turns out the girls had never gone to sleep and had played all night. and then they had a very dramatic, very tired fight and decided to come tattle on each other.....at 2:30am!!! what the heck? i put the girls back to bed and they fell asleep super fast. as for me, not so much. it took me forever to fall back asleep. all i kept thinking last night was how badly i am ready to put those two back into their own rooms again. i miss quiet, peaceful bedtimes. but then after a rough night of fighting them to go to sleep i normally find this when i go check on them.
even though they have their own beds they almost always end up sleeping together. they look pretty sweet when they sleep. haha. i am hoping tacey is doing okay at school today. she is probably exhausted!

Monday

sunday afternoons

my favorite weekends are the weekends we don't have anywhere to go or anything to do. they don't happen around here very often. but this weekend was one for the books. it was super low key and just the way i like it. we spent the whole weekend together with no hustle or bustle. just good, quality time together. sunday we had a regional conference for church and it only lasted an hour and a half so we basically had the whole sunday off it felt like. so we all took a nice, long nap.....actually just rhett and riggins did. and then we loaded up in the car for a sunday drive. rhett took us to warm river to feed the fish. i thought it was going to be freezing but it actually ended up being a gorgeous afternoon. and the fish were definitely out!! we fed the fish and just let the girls explore away. when we do things like this i notice how much rhett is in his element and how much things like this make him happy. it was a perfect afternoon with some sweet memories made. we then headed home to watch a family movie in the basement with some gooey brownies.

Wednesday

new years eve

new years eve we headed to my dads for dinner and to swap christmas presents!! i put riggins by a picture of my brother who died when he was little....don't you think they look alike?? i do! and no worries, my dad and riggs are holding a toy gun. it was a short, sweet trip but worth the drive. we were actually driving when the clock struck midnight. romantic, right! i snuck a quick kiss.
