bedtime
bedtimes have been rough around here lately. my girls have shared a room most of their lives, which i know is apparently good for them. but i am not sure it is a good thing for ME! those two stinkers together are a dang handful, let me tell ya. they feed off each other.....and they are clever as heck! they keep me on my toes, that is for sure. last night we put the kids to bed at 8 and surprisingly it was a pretty easy task. that rarely happens. rhett and i hung out for probably an hour in the living room and then headed off to bed to watch some tv. still, the kids were being nice and quiet so we figured they were all asleep. i'm pretty sure rhett and i were out cold by 10:30. but holy cow, i was woken up by the loudest, blood curdling scream! it was awful. i am pretty sure i was in the deepest possible sleep. being woken up by screaming is terrifying and very confusing. i was positive somebody was dying. turns out the girls had never gone to sleep and had played all night. and then they had a very dramatic, very tired fight and decided to come tattle on each other.....at 2:30am!!! what the heck? i put the girls back to bed and they fell asleep super fast. as for me, not so much. it took me forever to fall back asleep. all i kept thinking last night was how badly i am ready to put those two back into their own rooms again. i miss quiet, peaceful bedtimes. but then after a rough night of fighting them to go to sleep i normally find this when i go check on them.
even though they have their own beds they almost always end up sleeping together. they look pretty sweet when they sleep. haha. i am hoping tacey is doing okay at school today. she is probably exhausted!
Monday
sunday afternoons
my favorite weekends are the weekends we don't have anywhere to go or anything to do. they don't happen around here very often. but this weekend was one for the books. it was super low key and just the way i like it. we spent the whole weekend together with no hustle or bustle. just good, quality time together. sunday we had a regional conference for church and it only lasted an hour and a half so we basically had the whole sunday off it felt like. so we all took a nice, long nap.....actually just rhett and riggins did. and then we loaded up in the car for a sunday drive. rhett took us to warm river to feed the fish. i thought it was going to be freezing but it actually ended up being a gorgeous afternoon. and the fish were definitely out!! we fed the fish and just let the girls explore away. when we do things like this i notice how much rhett is in his element and how much things like this make him happy. it was a perfect afternoon with some sweet memories made. we then headed home to watch a family movie in the basement with some gooey brownies.
Wednesday
new years eve
new years eve we headed to my dads for dinner and to swap christmas presents!! i put riggins by a picture of my brother who died when he was little....don't you think they look alike?? i do! and no worries, my dad and riggs are holding a toy gun. it was a short, sweet trip but worth the drive. we were actually driving when the clock struck midnight. romantic, right! i snuck a quick kiss.
christmas vacay
we spent christmas with the warrens this year. cody and laura were able to fly in all the way from TN which was a huge treat!!! taft and kk came from UT. and we all met up at rhett's parents then a couple days later headed up to a cabin in the mountains. we hadn't had any snow all of decemeber, so i was bummed knowing we were not going to have a white christmas. lucky for us though it started snowing christmas eve and we had the most beautiful christmas. christmas eve tacey decided all the grandkids needed to do the nativity. they did it all on their own. it was the cutest, sweetest nativity i had ever seen. riggs and colton took turns being baby jesus. brylee was the angel. tacey was mary. and caden was joseph. once we were up there we realized we didn't have a tree!!! so we all went out on a hike and found the saddest looking christmas tree i have ever seen. it was kind of hilarious. christmas morning was magical as always. the kiddos were beyond excited and overly spoiled. santa needs to back off on the presents probably. on our way home we stopped in twin falls for a little leg stretch and went and looked over the canyon. beautiful. it really was an awesome christmas. i cherish the time we get with any of our siblings because we just don't see anyone enough. here's another post with an overload of pictures.
brybry is 5
my sweet little bry is 5. i can't even believe it. i feel like five is a big milestone for kids. kindergarten is just around the corner:( i am not looking forward to having one more kiddo at school, but she is beyond excited. she asks me everyday how many more days until kindergarten.
there are so many things i love about my sweet, smiley brylee. i haven't never met another child quite like this girl. she has some special gifts that i can only hope she keeps for the rest of her life and continues to grow them. i'm so grateful for brylee. riggins adores her. he is always so bored when she is at preschool. this girl is pretty dang awesome.
brylee's birthday is only a few days before christmas. i thought i was going to do a party with friends for her, but december got the best of me and i didn't get the party planned in time. on her birthday we ended up having to pack up our bags to head to boise for christmas. poor girl had to spend the day traveling across the state. but we luckily had lots of fun people waiting for us when we got there!! and so i rushed out got her some decorations and we had a party that night. i always feel bad that her birthday gets a bit mixed in with christmas, but she always loves it because we are normally with cousins that she doesn't get to see very often.
i sure love you brybry. keep on being you. keep asking your zillions of questions and learning. keep your sweet, sweet heart. keep on being a good friend. keep it all. we love everything about you cute girl.
