Project

I don't know if anyone remembers, but like a year ago I blogged about a "table" (it's actually a headboard) that I found at the DI. I have been wanting to paint that thing for the past year. Well, I finally did it! I sanded it, primed it, and then painted it ivory. I honestly thought I was going to spend a few days on it but once I started I just couldn't stop til I was done. I did it start to finish in about 4 hours. My hand lookes and feels a bit deformed now from holding spray paint can for so long, but it was well worth it. I love it. Here are some pics!

BEFORE

AFTER

I am going to add one more thing to it, but I am going to need Rhett's help with it. I will post another pic when I am completely finished with it!

~Brylee is 18 Months~

This my friends is why I quit breastfeeding her early. Do you see what she does to this bottle??!! She sucks the living life out of her bottles and binkies. This picture was taken an hour after she got done drinking her milk, the drop-in is sucked up into the nipple. It cracks me up every time I have to take these bottles apart.

I do not choose to still put her in this infant carseat, that is all her. She plays in that thing all day long. She cracks me up, she used to HATE this thing. We still use it occassionaly when we ride in Rhett's pick up or something.

Holy Cow, where does the time go? I remember when Tacey was 18 months, she seemed like such a big girl to me. But Brylee still seems like our little baby. I have been trying my hardest to just enjoy her as a baby. I don't want to make any promises, but there is a good chance Brylee might be our last baby, so I seem to get a bit more emotional with these milestones this time around. Luckily Brylee plays along and makes me happy, she is so good to let me wrap her up in her blanky and rock her. I love every second of it.

Brylee has picked up on so many words and phrases, it still amazes me everytime I hear her talk. She says way too many cute things to list them all but these are some of my favorites.
-In the morning she is usually the first to wake me up, she yells from her crib: "MOM! MOM! I WANT OUT! haha, I always wake up laughing.
-Whenever she is done eating she says: "Done. I want down."
-"outside" is by far her favorite word. All day long that is all I hear.
-"shoes"
-"owey" If Tacey or anybody else has an owey, so does brylee, and always in the exact same spot.
-"wee" that is what she is constantly saying in the car or going down the slide. She sounds just like that commercial with the pig hangin it's head out the car window yelling wee. I think of that every time.
-another thing I hear all day long is "mama, mama, mama, where's daddy?" I will answer her with "at work." she will smile at me and then repeats the question. We go through this about a million times a day.
-she calls Tacey "Teecee"
- "LETS GO"
-she smiles at everyone we see and says "hi" "bye" and waves. I've seen her make a million grumpy lookin people smile. (:

She has her 3 beloved "wawa's" still. (blanky, binky, bottle) She can say all three of those words but for some reason they are called wawa's at our house.
I have been really lucky with both my girls to be able to communicate with them so well when they are so young. Tacey wasn't talking as much at this age as Brylee is now, but she was so good at communicating with sign language. She knew all the signs better than Rhett and I did. But Brylee on the other hand is talking so well but is not interested at all in sign language. She is familiar with it and knows what a lot of the signs are, but she would honestly just rather learn to say the word then to do the sign. Either way I am just happy to be able to communicate. It is nice when they reach the age where they can tell you what they need and you aren't having to constantly guess.

If you haven't noticed Brylee is still completely bald. Well to be fair she still "looks" completely bald. A few hairs have sprouted in the past few months. I have actually been a fan of the bald head, headbands still look so dang cute on her and I know it will be so crazy trying to get ready when I am having to do mine, Tacey's, and Brylee's hair. Plus her bald head makes her seem so baby still, I can still rub baby lotion all over her head, which I LOVE.

I also have to say what a STINKER this little one is. She smacks, hits, punches, does the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I ask her to do, and she does this all with a freakin cute smile on her face. She is the hardest child to punish cause she is still my "smiley brylee."
Love You Baby Girl

Monday

I love, love, love my new calling!
Back in January I got called to be the primary pianist.
I have struggled with just about every calling I have ever had. Mostly the ones that require me to get up in front of everyone and speak. Totally out of my element. So when I got called into the bishoprics office I just knew I was going to get a teaching calling, but to my surprise it was so play the piano! I am very rusty, Rhett and I do not have a piano. So I have to go in 10 minutes early every Sunday to practise. But I love how this calling has still been a such a FUN challenge for me! I still get a little nervous every Sunday, but it is an EXCITED nervous. I know I was meant to have this calling. Heavenly Father helps me every Sunday. I get a lot of songs thrown at me that I have NEVER heard before( I rely on my ear too much), and so sometimes I will get done playing a new song and think 'how the heck did I just do that?' I still make ton of mistakes but I know I am being helped(: I love primary and I love playing the piano. The spirit is so strong in that room. I go home every Sunday with a smile on my face. And everytime one of those little ones get up to pray my heart just melts. Plus, I also get to spy on my Tacey Girl. Luckily I am hid in the corner so she can't really see me. And that's another thing I love, being hid in the corner! So perfect for me, the primary presidency is always apolgizing for me being hidden, but it is perfect for me. I have met so many wonderful new women (our ward is HUGE), I feel so blessed.
ps..everybody always asks me what Rhett's calling is...and that would be chasing a 16 month old through Sunday School and Priesthood. haha.
And, I also realize that my last few posts have been so random and a lot more detailed. It's a new goal if you couldn't tell(: I can't wait to print it off and give it to my girls. They love our blog! They will seriously sit down at the computer and just scroll through the entire thing. I think it will be so cool for them to look back on.
HOPE YOU ALL HAD A HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
And Happy Mother's Day to MY MOMS. Love You All.

Saturday

"one of those moms"

so, since my kids havent been feeling very well i seriously havent left my house since last sunday for church. rhett was home today so i took the chance to leave the house all by myself for a minute. but i seriously didnt even take a look in the mirror, i just dashed out the door for some fresh air. i decided to go to the grocery store and i promise you i never, ever run into anybody at the store unless i look like crap. seriously, no make up today, hair pulled back in a horrid messy ponytail, and spandex with a sweatshirt. yikes. and of course i run into people i know. haha, i was a bit mortified. i always swore i would never be one of those moms. yep, im ashamed, im officially one of those moms. even though i secretly vowed to myself that i would never go out in public looking like that again, i will never judge another mom again. haha, ya never know what kind of day or week that they have had.

Friday

update

Okay, so I really do think that this grapejuice thing works! We have been drinking it like by the gallons. Tacey, who normally gets soo super sick anytime she is exposed to anything really did good this week! She woke up one morning and threw up a tiny bit and that was the end of it. Seriously! She was asking for oatmeal and chicken nuggets the rest of the day. haha, too bad I wouldn't give them to her. I have been keepin my girls on the BRAT diet just in case.
So, I really do hate to get on my blog just to complain, but can I just say the the stomach flu just sucks and has ruined my week. This was supposed to be such a special week. Tacey's birthday was on Saturday and then she was SUPPOSED to start preschool on Tuesday. Luckily everyone was healthy for the party but Tacey didn't make it to one day of school this week ): Honestly my kids really weren't even that sick, but my BIGGEST pet peeve EVER is when parents take their sick kids anywhere and everwhere (school, church..). So, I try really hard to be considerate and not expose everyone else when my family is sick or still could be contagious. Okay, I swear I am done complaining now(: And if you hadn't noticed, I must sound like the most annoying, paranoid mama ever.
But anyways, next time you think your family has been exposed to the nasty stomach bug drink a glass of grapejuice three times a day and it is supposed to really help fight the dang bug off (100% juice). But, I have heard lots of times, DON'T drink it if you are already sick...MESSY. Anyways, hope this helps somebody else, I sure am glad I came across it! I know it could have and should have been a lot worse for us this week.

Tuesday

Science Experiment

so if you know me you know that i am a bit if a germ freak, even more when it comes to my kids. i try and keep them in a bubble so they arent constantly exposed to all the nasty crap going around. no worries, they still hang out with friends and go to church. but i did learn the hard way with tacey. she got very sick very young and had a rough couple years, so i vowed to become more careful and i feel like i really have done a good job at keeping my kids healthy. anways, onto my experiment. over the weekend while at a friends house our entire family got expsed to the stomach bug....my worst nightmirror. so i did my research and read and read and read up on how you could prevent it. turns out grape juice is the magic answer. something to do with the acidity...you can read about it at grammysuesnews.blogspot.com . so my family just started guzzling grape juice like crazy...everone except for brylee, she only likes milk. well, brybry woke up yesterday morning throwing up. the rest of us are still drinking the juice and just fine, i guess we will find out within the next couple days if this really is the magic juice. pray for us, i hate, hate, hate the flu. and i have the most queasy stomach ever when it comes to vomit. luckily brylee has been amazing. she prefers using the toilet to throw up in and gets excited to clean up and soap up afterwards. what an awesome one year old i have. well, i will keep ya updated on how the little experiment goes. wouldn't that be soo cool if it really worked!!
ps: i wrote this post on my droid, so it is a little sloppier than normal(:

Wednesday

A Little Behind...

Oh my goodness I am a little behind on blogging. We have seriously been so busy in the last couple months. Even though I have had some major cabin fever/winter blues I really can't complain at all cause I seriously have the BEST husband and girls in the world that are constantly keeping me entertained! We have also had tons of visitors stay with us in the last few weeks and it has been soo much fun. Thanks Kayla, Sacia, Jaxyn, and Kiyoshi for staying with us. We LOVE you!

Onto the Pictures!! This is just Tacey bein an adorable goof. Right now she is saying "Mom, this is how I smile with my cheeks!" Haha.

Tacey is also quite the photographer. She took these next two pictures, she also put my camer in black and white mode all by herself. Very Impressive if you ask me.

Tacey kept herself entertained for days with this laundry basket.

Rhett and I finally made it to the temple last month! Wahoo! It felt soo good to go. This is us just getting ready to leave(:

Jaxyn and Kiyoshi came and stayed with us during their spring break. I felt so bad cause it rained and snowed the entire week they were here. Luckily they really didn't seem to mind too much. We had so much fun with them.

Tacey has been a bit of a trouble maker this last month. I swear it's just cause we have been stuck in the house to much cause of the crappy weather. I am almost too embarrassed to even share these pictures and stories with everyone, but they are too good not to document.

So the other morning I am laying in bed and I hear Tacey get up. She does her usual little run to the potty in the morning and I roll over and wait for her to come get me so we can go start breakfast. I must have dozed off again cause the next thing I know I open my eyes to Tacey standing right infront of me with a bandaide and her lip just bleeding like crazy. She hands me the bandaide and says calm as can be "mommy, I'm bleeding." She goes on to tell me that she was trying to shave like daddy but messed up and cut herself. I was in so much shock I didn't get a before picture, but here is the after with a princess bandaide on her lip.

Just a week before the shaving incident Tacey also cut her hair. AHHH! This is one thing that I did not handle very well. We had just gotten done talking about how she wanted to grow her hair out like Repunzal! Seriously Tacey! When Sacia was here we got the haircutting scissors out and left them on the bathroom counter. BIG MISTAKE! She had pigtails in and she chopped the right one completely off AFTER I had put her to bed! Her bangs are seriously cut to the scalp. Luckily, with a little (okay a LOT) of hairspray I have learned how to hide it pretty well. I can almost laugh about it now....ALMOST.

And then there was the flour incident. If you have ever been to our house you know our entire bottom floor is all hardwood, no carpet. Anyways, I went upstairs to put Brylee down for bed and got distracted until I realized it was soo quiet downstairs. I came down to find Tacey "making cookies." We bought flour in bulk and have it in a huge bucket in our pantry. Since she had already made the mess I just let her play for awhile. After Rhett and I cleaned it up we swept up about 2 pounds of flour. It was THE BIGGEST mess I have ever cleaned up. Because of our hardwood floors it easily got dragged right into the living room. It was everywhere! We swept and mopped, swept and mopped, and swept and mopped. I am still finding flour. haha, it was such a mess, but Tacey had a blast!

Springtime here in Rexburg is soo dang windy! So if we can catch a day where it is not snowing, blowing, or raining we are outside playing! I love those days!! I am very nice and patient this winter BUT now I am ready for summer!

This is Brylee folding her arms. She is always ready and willin to pray. So dang cute!

Our girls absolutely LOVE to color. This is what they do seriously all day long.

And now I will end this post with my two little luvbugs cuddling. They are soo sweet. I am the luckiest most blessed mom in the entire world. I am so happy to have these girls, they brighten up my life, messes and all!

I also have lots of cute projects I want to post and of course Easter. So hopefully I get to that before the week ends. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
